Sulley Muntari’s father apologizes to Ghanaians

Sulley Ali Muntari’s father, Alhaji Muniru Sulley, has apologized to Ghanaians for his son’s unprofessional behavior during the Brazil 2014 World Cup which has resulted in his indefinite suspension from the senior national team.

The AC Milan midfielder was involved in a brawl with Mr. Moses Armah, a member of the Black Stars management committee, during a meeting between the players and management over the delay of their appearance fee.

Muntari's behaviour has raised questions over his attitude and commitment to the national cause.  Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite on Thursday, Alhaji Sulley issued an unqualified apology to Ghanaians on behalf of his son.  “I want to use this opportunity to render unqualified apology in the name of God to the people of Ghana and all his fans on behalf of my son (Sulley) for what happened in Brazil during the World Cup,” he pleaded.

He cautioned the media to seek all sides of a story issues crop up in the media about the players.  “I want to urge the press also not to do one sided stories when there are negative stories about the players as speaking to the players too will help ascertain the truth of these stories before they go on air,” he said.

He however expressed worry that the Black Stars management committee does not involve the parents of Black Stars players in their management.

Alhaji Sulley is a former footballer who played for B.A United from 1974-1977.He later moved to Dwarfs in 1977 but injuries ended his playing career.
