NSS director tries to bribe BNI with four smocks

DAILY GRAPHIC/ACCRA CITY TIMES - Ghana’s Daily Graphic today published the names of 27 district directors of the National Service Scheme who were detained by the Bureau of National Investigations operatives for their role in the GHS 7.9 million embezzlement case that has been uncovered after investigations.


The arrested district directors are:


  • Hayford Bredzei (Ho Municipality)

  • Alfred Mensah, (Jomoro District)

  • Kenu Foster Asiedu (Kwahu West)

  • John Sam, (Asante Akim Central)

  • Emmanuel Boafo Asiedu, (Kumasi Metro)

  • Frank Akoto Acquah (Atwima Kwanwoma)

  • Noah Kofi Boadi, (Asante Akim South)

  • Ali Issah, (Bole)

  • Gideon Kwesi, (Ga West)

  • Jones Tannor  (Tano South District)

  • Sulemana Alhassan, (Asunafo South);

  • Andrew Wak, (Bawku West);

  • Fidelis Bani, (Hohoe Municipal)

  • Seth Naorta Bekyire,( Gomoa East)

  • Godfred Hooney ( Wassa Amenfi East);

  • Benjamin Amponsah, (Bia East and West districts);

  • Mark Mwirii Jebuni, (Saboba)

  • Joseph Kumah,( Nanumba North)

  • Alhassan Yahaya, (Gushegu)

  • Iddrisu Mohammed, (Gunu, Tolon);

  • Siibu Mahama, (West and North Gonja) 

  • Shaibu Malik, (Mamprusi West);

  • Shaibu Mbema, (East Gonja),


  • Mohammed Abu Hanifah, (Nanumba South)

  • Iddrisu Adam, (Karaga)

  • Regina Kyanoo, (Lambussie Kani)

  • Anastasia Zanoo, (Ga South District)

Alhaji Alhassan Imoro, the Executive 


Director of the National Service Scheme, who allegedly tried to bribe members from the Bureau with GHS 100,000.00 is being monitored by the BNI. His attempt to bribe officials was reportedly captured on video.

The board of the National Service Scheme will be running the day to day operations of the NSS until further notice.

The Daily Graphic also alleges that other members of the NSS tried to bribe members of the bureau with the corresponding sums.

  •  Hayford Bredzei (Ho Municipality) – GHS 5,000.00

  • Mbema Saibu (East Gonja) – GHS 5,000.00

  • Samuel Bempong (Kwahu North) – GHS 5,000.00

  • Alex Foley (Kenyasi) – GHS 5,000.00

  • Siibu Mahama (West and North Gonja) – GHS 4,000.00

  • Tannoh Jones (Bechem) – GHS 3,000.00

  • Samuel Atta (Gyesew), (GHS 2000.00)

  • Ralph Alorwu (Atebubu-Amaten) – GHS 1,000.00

  • Lamini Mohammed (Tano North) GHS 3,000.00 and Two Samsung Laptops

  • Nana Diasekapa Obugyei II (Greater Accra) – GHS 2,000.00

  • Charles Ekpe (Akatsi District) – GHS 2,000.00

  • Kena Asiedu, (Kwahu West) – GHS 5,000.00

  • Dzokoto Nesta (Sogakope) – GHS 700.00
