NSS boss remanded again; due in court on November 3

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) continues to hold the former Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Alhaji Alhassan Imoro after a second appearance in court today.

The court presided over Mr. Francis Obiri remanded Alhaji Imoro into BNI custody, pending a ruling on his bail application on November 3.

Joy News' Daryl Kwawu reports that the former NSS boss was charged with stealing 86.9 million cedis belonging to the state.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court ordered the BNI to grant the suspect access to his family and lawyers daily between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

It also charged the BNI to provide the suspect his special diet on request and be sent to the Police Hospital for medical attention.

The prosecution, DSP Annor had argued it needed more time to investigate the case due to the number of people involved in the case.

He further argued, the suspect may also interfere with the case if granted bail.

But the lawyer for Alhaji Imoro, Dennis Adjei Dwomoh expressed surprise at the submission of the prosecution.

He also questioned the basis for the continued detention of his client since October 10.
